United Terran Nations(UTN) Early history

A documents describing the events leading upthe great human civil war and the creation of the United Terrain Nations.

2185:
Humans Have just finished the first Large space station orbiting earth. Reasearch is increasing and the Earth government launch the first ship to travel to another star system and hopefully find a planet to colonize in the Alpha Centauri system. Estimated arrival in 100 years.

2230:
Explorer 96 Launches for the Alpha Centauri system using the first operational and experimental "Rift" drives. Operating on the "theory" that time exist in layers and everything that's been done before still exist in a limbo on these layers as snapshots of every infinititely small moment in time. The Rift Drives opens up a portal into the layers allowing the spaceships to then travel forward while just barely chaning to the next layer in time (though travelling on the same layer in time would destroy it. so it can't ravel instantly. that would in essence destroy the ship and crew, as it can't exist and move on a single layer). Estimated Arrival to alpha centari is 6 months. maybe less. Later the rift drives would do this trip in 6 hours to a week depending on it's class.

2380:
Humans have now spread to several star systems and 100 Human star systems are now under control of the extremely religius and regulative human governmenttive. The first of the Nomads had allready separated and now live on their spaceships, later they'd become be an enitrey different race as they evolved into a human species designed to live in space.
The Human government had a strict ban on any bioeletronic research, including any Cybernetics, as it was considere against the will of God to mix humans with electro-mechanical parts. Several of the major Megacorps went against this and did this research in secret and though they tried for decades to lift the ban, they eventally decided to join up and form a human faction of their own with anyone that wished to follow them. Most of the families working for these megacorps followed and they went to populate 12 new starsystems. These they quickly expanded on in the following decades. They used a heavily cybernetically enhanced military force, making their much smaller military forced far superior to the earth forces.

2423:
First Contact.
An Entarian scout cruiser enters human territory and tries to establish contact with the human government. The, at this time even more heavily religius government falls appart, not being able to accept that there are other sentient beings in the universe. A new government now called the United Terran Nations is quickly set up, and they establish contact with the Entarians. Several worlds take this possibility to announce their independence and even a few arms of the military separate and start "worlds" of their own, something which was of grave worry to the UTN leaders.
The UTN finds out through the Entarians that there is a multitude of sentient life and populated star systems in our galaxy, and are given several databases on local customs for nearly all the known species, as well as where and how to meet these and what goods can be traded with them, these Databases where of course heavily influenced by the Entarians needs, and not humans. They where also told about the galactic ports leading to other galaxies but are warned not to use these untill they have established a level of recognition in this galaxy.

2500:
The year of return, as the now called "Corporate Coalition" called it.
In a surprise attack the majority of the CC's fleet Rifts in near earth taking the UTN totally by surprise. The Earth Defense Forces are left to their own as the nearest UTN fleets are stationed on MARS and are unable to rift inside the solar system. Most of the EDF fleet is destroyed in an attack that lasts only a few hours. The remains of the EDF fleet escapes to safety on Mars while the CC fleet starts extensive orbital bombardment of earth.
After 5 days and an Earth in ruins the UTN Earth Government surrenders earth to the CC. China who is not part of the UTN was spared the bombardment, as was Japan which is not part of the UTN but has an extensive defense and research allience with the UTN. Because of this Japan is now under siege and has to rely on their own resources as their communications with the UTN HQ is blocked off.

New Detroit mostly survived the bombardment and is now the last stronghold of the Free EDF forces on earth. This recently rebuilt and fortified city is too much for even the CC's forces to penetrate so they're satisfied in just keeping it under siege for now.
The CC themselves set up their new headquarters by the Remains of old washington, and is building New Washington up to be the largest of the megacities on earth.

The UTN now starts organizing large scale coordinated attacks on CC controlled planets and military space installations.

"World War III" started on May the 15th in earth year 2500 on the day that the bombardment of earth started.
(It is called WWIII even though it's scale is was far larger than that. Alien nations simply refer to it as Mankinds great civil war. Most humans just call it the greatest disaster in mankinds history. In the end, they're probably all correct.)

2524
The War has raged on for 24 years, and for now the CC has mostly been on the defensive as the majority of their fleet is still guarding Earth, a move that would show to be their undoing. The UTN attacks on the CC has separated their production facilites from their resources, as their mining facilites and planets are not on the same systems as their production facilites in most cases. Flying material convoys for the CC is now ranked at a 99.99% death risk. On the upside, the bonus if you survive is really great. Meanwhile the UTN keeps building up their fleet and the Mars Orbital facilites is operating continually at full capacity while the Mars Orbital is being expanded greatly.

On September the 3rd The UTN HQ on Mars gets the signal they've been waiting for from Earth, the EDF forces has gathered and are preparing a coordinated attack on September the 29th.
The EDF forces on earth risked their life in captuing a CC com station to send this message, unable to receive any answer from the UTN forces they just have to take their chances the message did arrive, and that they won't be alone in a futile attack for freedom.

On September the 29th, A massive space battle rages over Earth on the early morning. The UTN and now Rebuilt EDF fleets win a devastating victory over the CC, with great losses on both sides. In the end the UTN/EDF fleets won by sheer numbers. During the massive space battle the UTN/EDF forces have also been dropping drop ships and atmospheric fighters and bombers to the Surface of Earth to help the assault on new Washington and it's defenses.
The Space battle was over in 1 day and 6 hours. The ground war raged on for 6 days before the CC surrendered. Remnant CC forces on earth has since then been chased down for 4 years after this.

The CC after this retreated all their fleet and assets to their primary 12 planets. and has since then remained quiet and not shown great signs of expanding beyond mining asteroid fields. CC forces outside of their own territory are still KOS for UTN forces.

Some of the planets deserted by the CC has since decided to join the UTN. While others have decided to stay independent. a few others have grouped together and formed a few new trade and defense unions. A very few planets also decided to stick to their allegiance with the CC, which the UTN has decided to respect since it's their free wish and they're not forcing any of their citizens to stay back after this.

2600:
Present time. (depending on when the story setting is set of course, but this is the "present" time reffered to as a 'default')

Be warned that this is something I just wrote down way back, and I just cleaned it up and fixed some typos and before posting it here publically. So it's a bit messy and stuff. but it does give a rough peek at the human history.
For those of you wishing to make your own human factions you'll notice there are two "main" time in history when lots of factions broke off, but if you wish to start a faction that broke off at other times this is ok too, just remember to give the background story
